say cheers to no beers: the benefits of an alcohol-free Christmas party

Ok stay with us, we know we’ve started bold with that title, it’s Christmas, the season of a little tipple and the time to raise a glass with your colleagues at the end of another working year, but what if it wasn’t about that? It’s 2023, alcohol-free alternatives actually taste pretty good and if hangovers are getting the better of you, then is the hangover even worth it?

Seriously though. Whilst it’s true that work Christmas parties often involve alcohol, they don’t have to and there can be some really positive benefits to doing so.

Let’s take a look…

Enhanced Inclusivity

Not everyone drinks alcohol, whether personal, cultural or health reasons, there’s likely to be someone you’re automatically excluding by having a boozy bash, an alcohol-free event ensures all employees can fully participate, creating a sense of belonging and promoting a positive workplace culture,

Reduced Legal Risk

Make no bones about it, as an employer your risk factor for accidents or incidents that occur during or after company events is automatically higher, an alcohol-free party reduces that risk and ensures you won’t have to manage alcohol-related or even legal issues with your employees.

Increased Productivity

Ever been in the office the day after the Christmas do? We can smell the McDonalds breakfast from here however no booze equals no sore heads! And the opportunity to transform one of the least productive days of the year.

Health is Wealth

It’s fine to enjoy a drink or two, but alcohol on the whole is not healthy and neither is promoting is part of company culture. An alcohol-free Christmas party sets out your stall in terms of health and wellness and demonstrates that you prioritise this for your employees.

Shift The Budget

The Christmas Do can be a huge expense for a business, taking alcohol out of that equation reduces that spend by quite some margin meaning you can redirect those savings towards other enjoyable activities or rewards for your employees
Positive Reputation

Manage reputation for the better

Ever been to one of those big Christmas parties with multiple companies and noticed who the company was? Yes us too and if it was particularly let’s say ‘raucous’ that’s probably not the image they were going for but nonetheless it’s stuck in your mind! An alcohol-free Christmas party sends a very different message internally and externally reflecting a commitment to responsible and inclusive workplace practices.

Can’t we do both?

Of course, you can! An alcohol-free Christmas party offers many benefits fostering inclusivity, reducing legal and safety risks, promoting health and well-being and most of all meaning employees can enjoy the festivities without the negative consequences of excessive alcohol consumption, benefits you can’t deny sound pretty great.

However the most important takeaway is that there’s an option, you don’t ‘have to have’ a boozy Christmas do, so do what is right for you and your employees and which keeps everyone safe and happy and if you need some support you know where we are!
